Outside of 4-crown, he can be superfluous at times, mainly due to Roe Cat's far higher effective HP and Normal/ Crazed or Manic Island often acting as better shields. Maximum the Fighter's high stats make it a very valuable asset in any anti-red army, especially in 4-crown Stories of Legend.
He is also considerably helpful for Crazed Gross, Crazed Bird and Crazed Titan. Once you obtain this Cat in early game, Viking Cat will destroy the first 2 chapters of Empire of Cats. Its rapid attack speed, Strong against Red ability, decent attack damage and VERY high health for its cost makes it an incredibly well-rounded Cat with no real weaknesses pre-EoC 3 Moon. Think of this Cat, especially in Normal and Evolved Form, as a heavier version of Axe Cat or Ninja Cat, trading cost and cooldown for significantly higher health and attack power.
