There is some luck: several restarts the first drought was only 3 days instead of 5, and those runs the sunflowers can live through it. Ive also survived without damming it by building infrastructure, but its a losing game: your crops all die, even tried sunflowers for the extra day. I tried 3 loggers and nothing else but water and food, they can't do it in time. I am getting a 5 day drought on day 7 or so, and there is no way you can dam that river in 7 days. Its not running out of wood, there is enough there, barely. I second you OP anyone have a strategy for this map without cheating, editing the map, etc on hard mode? I can't do it either. By cycle 6 we need some big water barrels and the dam finished, but its on track for that. That means the trees onhand are just enough for 3 sci buildings, 4 water barrels, 2 water pumps, 3 houses, a farm, a warehouse, a power wheel, a sawmill, a toothgrinder, a platform, one stairs, one water dump, and a forester + a few left and 2 sections of dam finished. The grown pine trees are originals: I mark a few to never cut so they make natural babys & produce some resin or can be cut in an emergency. I have now started the dam, but its going to require all my baby trees to grow to finish it. That is working.! Rushed 3 science buildings, built a platform/stair/dump combo and my crops are fine without the dam. Running out of ideas, considered 3 science buildings and a water dump. I didn't try using warehouse dams, but that seems exploity.
